The whole staff and chefs was always smiling and helpful in every situation! The staff and administration are the sweetest and kindest people you'll ever meet! Trip: The airport on the main island Male is small, so it's impossible to get lost. From there you are taken by a small water plane, around 25 minutes above the ocean and other islands to Nova. Packing should be simple. I never wore shoes other than the airport of course, and the weather is hot, so no thick clothing. I recommend flowy, breathable fabrics, or shorts. (There is laundry service if you need it.) Take sunscreen and water polo shirts to protect you from sunburn. If anything there is a store, where you can buy all beach necessities (including snorkeling gear) in a store right on the islands. There are three restaurants available : 1. "Soul" The breakfast-lunch-dinner buffet with a huge variety and a combination of eastern and western cuisines 2. "Flames" is a restaurant that focuses mostly on grilled seafood and meat 3. "Mizu" A Japanese restaurant on the water where you get to watch an entire show of how your food is prepared (The food is amazing in all of restaurants and the chefs are very very friendly. I have gluten and lactose allergies and the chefs kindly made me "special deserts"! And each time they were very unique and delicious.) Even though the island is very small in size, it's incredibly green and beautiful. There is a beautiful big tree that lights up in the night, where you can listen to native tales and music while relaxing on the swings. There are two volleyball fields, a soccer field, a gym, a pool with a bar and a dive center. There is also a jewelry store, a doctor's office, of course, and another cute store with decorations, souvenirs, snacks, clothing and etc. Water sports: Inside the largest lagoon all around the island you can rent paddle boards, catamarans, kayaks, wind sails and glass boats! you can take snorkeling gear and swim around with the many different types of fish and even some small sharks! Or you could go to the dive center and learn to dive. They offer long courses if you want a license and simple diving lessons for beginners - either way it's something you cannot miss out on! It opens a whole new world to you, you can see all the different sea creatures, manta rays, sharks, lion fish, turtles, crabs, eels - anything you can imagine in the Nemo movie!) I finally overcame my fear of the deep ocean, my life has honestly changed! Nature/weather: 36-40°C is the normal weather for August, there was rain, mostly at night, but everything dries fast, so there is rarely bad weather. There are no wild and dangerous insects or animals, meaning no spiders, no snakes, no jellyfish, and even no seaweed! The ocean floor is clean and the water is turquoise! The lagoon is shallow, you can stand almost everywhere if you're tall, but at night the water leaves the bay and the water level drops (going out at night is also an interesting experience!) Villas: I got to experience both the family villa that's located on the beach and the water villa, that stands in the lagoon. I could never pick one of them as a better option! Beach villa: The beach villa stands right between the palm trees and bright green bushes, you have total privacy! (I never even saw or heard the neighbors!) There is a hammock and outside long bed/couch and a palm tree in the backyard. Three steps out of the bushes - water! Inside the tall ceilings make the room feel very spacious. There is an apple TV, a big closet. (Oh how comfortable those pillows and mattresses are..!) The bathroom is unlike anything I've seen before. The entrance is from the villa, but the bathroom is outside! It's in a beautiful little garden, there is a shower right under the sun and another under the roof, the bathroom and sink are outside too and the whole room is beautifully made. A lot of people will be happy to hear, that there are absolutely no insects - not a single mosquito, not a single fly! Instead there are hermit crabs, small and large lizards that run around in the bushes and, I was surprised to see bats! Really big bats! But they fly above the trees rarely and don't interact with you at all. Water villa: The villas on the water, I must say, are less private. It's true, you can hear and see the neighbors, but the experience is absolutely worth it. Some villas have a pool, some a jacuzzi, some neither, depending on the price. Jacuzzi or not, there is always a staircase leading down to the crystal clear, turquoise water, sharks and huge manta rays passing by underneath you. you can see sunrises and sunsets and watch the island, sky and water all from your own deck, while sitting on a sunbed, sipping from a coconut. Room service is daily, but there is a "do not disturb" button if anything. The, seemingly small from the inside, villas are actually huge inside! The bathroom is very spacious, with a bathtub (with a pretty view from it), two sinks and big mirrors, a shower of course, the toilet is in a separate small room. you get a dressing room, a bed (with another pretty view!), a couch, desk and an outdoor table. Can't forget the minibar! (Although there is an option to order food right to your villa. Spa: The spa offers a ton of different massages like lymphatic drainage, warm stones, muscle ease massage and different oils. (Thank you to the spa, my neck pain is finally gone) The ladies there are delightful and it's a truly peaceful and relaxing place. Staff: All the staff, the waiters and chefs, the janitors and administration, the diving instructors and the bell boys - thank you so very much! Every single person is so wonderful and kind, they make you feel so at home and are ready to do anything for you to have an amazing stay. From a warm welcome to a tear-filled goodbye, everyday they would put smiles on our faces. It's crazy, how clean it is and how well the islands is maintained. Overall, INCREDIBLE! The hotel is very new, the layout is comfortable and so thoroughly planned out, I can't find a single thing to complain about and I mean it. Everything is clean, new, fresh and simple, yet beautiful and comforting. There is clearly so much thought, funds, ideas and love that were put into this island, it's truly incredible. For the two weeks I've spent there, I started to feel at home. Even though the island is of small size, I didn't find it boring at all, as they offer you a huge variety of activities and experiences. We all had an Read MoreWe visited Nova Maldives towards the end of August 2023 for our 30th wedding anniversary, our children aged 20 and 17 came with us. From the moment we arrived our visit was perfect. We all had an amazing time and we very much hope to return in the future. The service provided by the team at Nova was absolutely outstanding. They are all very attentive and you are always greeted by happy smiling faces. The buffet restaurant (Soul Kitchen) is excellent and there is a good choice and variety. All the dishes are freshly prepared and are of a very good standard. The chefs are on hand for live cooking of grilled meat and fish, pasta dishes or stir fry. We had the all-inclusive package so we were also able to dine at Flames, an a la carte restaurant, which we did on 5 out of the 8 nights we stayed. The food there is also excellent and it makes for a very relaxing evening sat outside near to the sea. On a couple of occasions whilst at Flames the chef made suggestions about dishes we might like and prepared something that was not on the Menu for us. The Chefs are very accommodating and went well above and beyond our expectations. There is a 3rd restaurant called Mizu which looked amazing but the additional cost is quite significant so we didn’t try that. All of the facilities on the island are excellent and spotlessly clean. We used the gym, pool, spa, paddle boards and kayaks. We discovered snorkeling and ventured a little further each day, the variety of colourful sealife was fascinating and very easily accessible. There is an extensive list of daily activities including craft and cultural sessions, many of which are complimentary. We attend some of these and found them enjoyable and informative. Although it is a very small island we were never short of something to do and the small size seemed to make it more special in many ways. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary whilst at the resort. The team at Nova ensured we enjoyed our celebration, our table was decorated at dinner, our bed was decorated, and we were given a cake after our meal. Our beach bungalow was large and very nicely furnished with everything you need. The bathroom including the outdoor shower area was excellent. Our room was kept spotlessly clean by Easa who cleaned it twice a day and to our delight created very elaborate bed decorations for us on several occasions and also sand drawings on our patio. All of the staff did a great job and I must apologise to those whose names I can’t recall, we would like to thank you all very much and would especially like to thank Mohammed who waited on our table on many occasions and Thirupathi who looks after the pool bar and provided excellent friendly and entertaining service every day. There was entertainment every night with live bands and/or fire shows most nights, all of which were of a good standard. According to us, Nova Maldives is a wonderful place. At fist the island has a very large reef, we saw Mantas, Stingrays and turtles. Then the resort has new and well cleaned rooms, their design is also cool. Finally the staff is really kind and friendly with the clients. We met James, an impressive sushi-maker and a special person who really surprised us, and like him many others were excellent. A mention also for the local band, which made us have a lot of fun🤍. We had a lovely stay at Nova Maldives and hope to return back soon✨. Read Less
