This is mine and Crispins first experience of Baros and it has just been amazing from start to finish. The island reef is incredible, the food fantastic, the villas beautiful but what makes it so special is by far the staff. Oopsy in the Lighthouse is just delightful, Mira and Lala, Hardys singing with the band, Sujita in Lime, Ambra our dive instructor and Anas our lovely Butler, there are more and the amazing chefs who did the most amazing curries, we would love to welcome them all to our home in the UK if they ever visited like they've made us feel at home here. We love it and we will definitely be coming back. Thank you so so much for the most amazing holiday. Juliet & Crispin Read Less

The location & the vibe of the resort was how we wanted it to be. The service & the hospitality of all the staffs we met was very kind. To mention our Butler Aslah was very attentive & professional. He shared with us informative knowledge about history of Maldives & the resort too. Foods & drinks we must say overall was fab. Amazingly beautiful reef just in front of your villa. We saw lots of baby sharks & turtles. The only regret we had was that our stay was very short due to some busy schedule of work. Hopefully we will visit again to Baros soon. It is just a matter of when ! Read Less

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our booking at Kudadoo due to beach erosion where we were planning to snorkel and opted for Baros instead. We have also been to, Cocoa, Milaidhoo, Grand Park Kodhiparu and Gili Lankanfushi. We have previously been to Baros in 2015 and wow, that is where the magic and our love for Maldives began. We went initially to celebrate our engagement and also planned to have our wedding there, but then the pandemic hit. Since our last visit we noticed a lot of improvements which we were very surprised about: 1. The house reef is much better than when we remembered it with thousands of small very cute fish, colourful medium to XXL fish. Sharks, Eagle Rays, and our favourite Turtles. As soon as you start snorkelling it’s like you’re in an aquarium. The other resorts we stayed at didn’t have a good house reef and the Maldivian holiday experience felt incomplete without seeing the nature and being with the ocean. 2. We stayed in an over water villa, but could have easily stayed at a beach villa as they were both beautiful. Whilst we were at the Ritz we had a day stay visit to do some snorkeling and even the day stay accomodation had its own charm and it looks like they have started to upgrade / renovate the rooms both internal and external. 3. Even after all the resorts we visited, I found that Baros is still your quintessential Maldives destination with the crystal torquise waters, breathtaking walk from your villa to the main parts of the island, the newer resorts that are man made didn’t have that feel, because they didn’t have natural beauty, calm turquoise water, you don’t feel like you were in Maldives, unlike Baros - it’s hard to describe but something you experience when you go there and your bare feet are touching the sand and your looking around at the stunning surrounds and the turquoise water peaks through in between parts of the garden. Whilst the accomodation was more modern at the newer resorts, it felt like we were just staying at a hotel in the Maldives, the Maldivian soul was missing - not like Baros where you get the whole Maldivian experience, the Maldivian warmth, culture and hospitality that you look forward to coming back to which Baros has deeply intertwined throughout the resort, rooted in Maldivian history which a rich soul and spirit. 4. We can see that they have really maintained the place well and are also building two bedroom Villas to accomodate families with older children, there’s also more relaxing additions like the traditional Maldivian swing chairs for pure relaxation and seeing the architecture again, it’s just stunning with so much grandeur and attention to detail. 5. Compared to the other resorts, there are no babies / young kids at Baros, which makes it very peaceful and very easy to relax and unwind, unlike the other resorts we went to that weren’t adults only, I think this is an underrated feature of Baros as there’s nothing better than peace and quiet whilst enjoying a sunset whereas other resorts could have screaming kids in the background or in front of you - not romantic. 6. The sunsets are still as stunning and more stunning than any other place we have stayed at, it’s just the way the island is positioned and also unbelievably amazing watching it at their lighthouse restaurant - simply amazing and a must! 7. We only stayed for 4 nights this time but wished we stayed more as it is so relaxing and so much to do that we didn’t get a chance to. I recommend 7-10 days as the longer you stay the luckier you get with weather and snorkeling, it was different every day and we stayed from the 24th to 28th of August and luckily got amazing weather. 8. The excursions were our highlight on this stay, we went on a private sunset dolphin cruise and it was a success we saw so many groups of dolphins, jumping, swimming, doing summer saults - it was SO good, we had a hard time deciding whether to have a massage on the piano deck (which was also amazing) or the dolphin cruise and since we couldn’t do the dolphin cruise back home so we opted for the dolphins and you wouldn’t believe it, it was even better the second time! OMG! We were blown away. More dolphins and more dolphin action closer to our boat. I think the the dolphins liked the boat we were in because they kept coming closer to us compared to the other boats. We were on the Laura. When the dolphins come close, it is like this surreal experience like you’re in a movie with the dolphins - I’ll miss them heaps! Mother natures greatest gift. The ride to and from was very smooth. 9. We also went on the Nooma for the first time since they didn’t have it in 2015 and WOW, it’s as grand and magnificent, if not more than the photos show, I loved the deep rooted history behind the Dhoni and reflecting the Maldivian culture in a truly elegant, magical, majestic and romantic way, can you imagine sailing on the most still calm water, as the sun sets watching its breathtaking sail open up, being with the love of your life! It’s better than what we imagined. We sailed across the ocean with Champagne and canapés and the blissful stillness. 10. Another amazing highlight were the people that looked after us, Villa Host / Butler, Sita was the best - she is incredible at her job and an amazing human being. She made our stay delightful and easy the moment we met her. A massive thank you to Shuhan, Shazeel (he is Insta famous!), Naseem, the transport crew that helped us find the dolphins. The ladies at the spa and breakfast and also the staff at Lime & Cayenne. All phenomenal. Food was phenomenal too. Negatives: Going home, I really didn’t want to go home - I was crying leaving Baros, really wanted to stay longer but I had to go back to work. I’m at home now and stocked up on papaya, dragon fruit and coconuts to try to string out our best Maldivian holiday and keeping the memories alive. Also, craving Maldivian Fish Curry which they made so deliciously for us. Thank you very much to all the people we met and who looked after us, OMG guys it was the best! We had an amazingly incredible experience! We especially miss putting our bathers on and snorkelling for 2 hours, looking for Parsley. Until next time ❤️ Thank you all very much again! Read Less
