Makunudu is everything we hoped for and more… It’s a 50 minute boat ride from Male airport, so not too far but far enough away for the remote island experience. The reception, bar area and restaurant are elegant but casual and understated with sand floors and minimal fuss. (Many guests never wear shoes). The guest bungalows are spacious with very comfortable beds and quiet A/C. The rooms open onto a shaded seating area just a few steps from the glorious beach and ocean. We were on the all-inclusive package and it must be mentioned that the food and service was amazing, with a combination of buffet and set menu options. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I don’t know if we will ever get the opportunity to go back to the Maldives, but if we do, it will certainly be to Makunudu. We had a wonderful holiday. Read Less

A mixture of buffet and table service. Our waiter Lasantha for the 2 weeks was exceptional. Our beach evening meal we had with friends for my husband’s birthday was perfect. He was friendly, courteous and attentive. He could not have done any more for us whilst there. Our villa was lovely and had a private front set back facing sea view. (Just steps away)Our person who looked after it was very good. So sorry I can’t remember his name. He kept it lovely and clean and also decorated it for my husbands 73rd birthday. In fact everyone we met was the same from reception, the bar, the small gift shop and diving/snorkel team. It may not be a 5* resort but my husband and I highly recommend this resort. Read MoreFirst of all, if you want to witness how the paradise feels and looks like, this island Makunudu will show it all... it's small and local and everything about it is as natural as it can get... yet... with all the comfort you can't even imagine. To be short, the island is an paradise, like you have heard of only in fairtales.... the staff is extreemly friendly and professinal. The food and accomodation is beyond outstanding. This quality of service is consistently maintained every day... As an just married couple, we will remain thankfull to Jamie and Stanley for making this unforgettable trip to Makunudu posibble for us....since our original honeymoon trip to other maledieven island did not work out as planned, they pro-actively jumped in to save it by taking care of A-Z. And left us with an unforgettable (honeymoon) trip. The level of service that has been provided to us by Jamie and Stanley is like the best of the best in the champions league!! Approaching the island the bungalows were hidden amongst the trees and looked like a deserted island-wonderful! We were greeted by lovely smiling staff with a welcome drink and cool face towel! Our bungalow was perfect, nothing flash and vulgar it was simple authentic tasteful and extremely clean. The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable- beautiful pillows and quilt. The air con and fan worked a treat. All staff were helpful friendly and kind throughout our stay. The choice and quality of the food was impeccable. Helal, one of the 9 chefs made us the best breakfasts daily, along with all the other stunning food on offer. Breakfast, lunch, snacks late afternoon and 4 course evening meals were all prepared. If you wanted to skip a meal you just did not attend. The variety of the meals were beautifully cooked and presented- truly delightful. Lassantha was our friendly server who was knowledgeable about the food and island, he could not of been more attentive- a huge thank you to him! We wondered around the island- very small so takes around 20 mins. We relaxed, ate, drank and met new friends. The snorkelling was insane and the sunrise and sunsets with cocktail in hand were amazing! We swam with the mantas and many beautiful fish and sharks off the shore (not dangerous) Abu Talib kept our room beautiful and even turned down the bed during the evening. It is an amazing place- unspoilt and perfect in every way. A huge thank you to all the island staff- it has been an incredible experience and we will recommend your hospitality to all. We have been to a lot of other Islands in the Maldives and wondered what to expect. Apart from the first bungalow we were put in not being private enough (we were moved after requesting a more private bungalow ) everything was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was great and we really enjoyed the spa. We love snorkelling and we were able to do this every day and saw lots of different things - turtles, sharks, many varieties of fish. This is the perfect place for relaxing, reading and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Read Less
