They had a lounge which had some yummy bites while we waited to board the seaplane, the check in was smooth and efficient. We stayed at the water villas, and the room and views were breath-taking. The resort has 5 restraunts, and each of the restaurant served delicious food and a wide range of alcohol. The staff were so polite and caring, made us feel very special. Our personal butler was Mr. Ifoo, who was so very professional and took great care of us. The facilities in the resort like the main pool, gym, star gazing, cinema under the stars and spa are putstanding. The check out was also so seamless, few staff members along with the resort manager were there to see us off, which is such a beautiful touch and feeling. Anantara has a very Read MoreWe had an amazing 7 day stay on Kihavah water villas from Jul 28th till Aug 4th with our daughter. It is 30 minutes flight by seaplane from Male, which was quite pleasant. Anantara has a very comfortable business style lounge at the airport and the waiting time for our flight was only 30 minutes. The arrival to Kihavah was very smooth as the hotel has no reception concept. Instead of paper signing we were met by our villa host Zidhan who gave us a buggy tour of the island, showing and explaining available facilities. Kihavah is medium in size and is very green with very thick foliage in some parts of it. It even has a functioning historic well site dating back to 1600's. Although drinking from it is something that probably is best not to do :) We expected to find some fruits and champagne upon arrival to the villa (and we did!), but the very pleasant unexpected part was that we were also greeted by a local therapist who gave each of us a 15 minutes foot massage, which was very relaxing after a trip. The water villa that we had was very spacious with lots of outside deck space and recently renovated. Also, there were some small nice touches in the room like books on the shelves and some board games, which we did not use, but which make the room to seem more personal like a home, not a hotel. Water villas are located on a shallow part of the reef with water approx waist/chest deep (give or take on the tide). The sea is nice to dive in to cool off, but for some snorkeling or fish seeing its better to go to the main beach or to the house reef, which is on the other side of the island. Kihavah has a very good house reef. It is said to have many turtles, but we didn't see any. Maybe it was not the season or our timing. However, we were very lucky with our manta ray trip, which is 40 minutes by boat to an atoll close by. Not only did we see literally hordes of mantas, but we also got to see a huge whale shark!!! Our guides told us that its really rare when you can see both mantas and w.shark together. Our villa host Zidhan had pre-booked our main activities, like restaurants for dinners, manta tour etc., which was excellent! Of course we could change everything, but the only request that we had was to shift dinner time from 19 to 19:30. Zidhan was by far the best villa host that we ever had, meeting us at breakfast in the mornings, thinking in advance about our requests, taking our daughter back and from the villa, etc. He even made a small painting of manta, that we saw during our tour, especially for Liza with an autograph! :) We didn't have to think about anything and could concentrate fully on enjoying our family time together. The other team members of Kihavah were just as great. I would like to mention Baba and Tim who have served us on breakfasts and dinners at some of the restaurants. I would also like to mention F&B director Bandula. He mingles with guests in the evenings in various restaurants, is a very nice and interesting person to talk to and thanks to him we had an unforgettable experience in the Sea restaurant. It was not our first time in Maldives, but this time was our first experience with the underwater restaurant, other hotels that we have visited previously didn't have one. Sea restaurant is open for lunch and dinner (adults only). We had both and the experience is quite different. During the day there is more sunshine and the sea is very clear. You can see the reef and lots of bright fish. The menu is not big, but has all the essentials and you can choose a combination of starters, soup, main course and wine pairing. During dinner it is obviously darker, although there are lights, that illuminate the ocean. You don't see as many colored small fish, as during the day, but it is time when some big fish come. The menu is different from lunch and is set, there is no choice available, except for the wine, and the food is excellent. Overall the dinner and lunch are not totally different, after all you are in the same place, but are still different in terms of experience. We had a great vacation!
