Niyama Private Islands Maldives has been named among the Indian Ocean’s leading resorts, ranking seventh in the US Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2026 and 19th in the UK edition.

On 6 October 2026, the US and UK Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards revealed their much-anticipated results, with hundreds of thousands of readers voting for their favourite destinations, brands and resorts. The awards are among the travel industry’s most prominent reader-voted accolades, reflecting traveller preferences and loyalty across the globe.

Niyama Private Islands Maldives has been recognised among the Indian Ocean’s leading resorts since its opening in 2012, earning another notable recognition this year. The resort continues to redefine the Maldivian luxury experience through its distinctive two-island setting.

Following a major evolution in recent years, Niyama now enters a new era with lusher surroundings and more experiences to explore. Guests can move freely between the two islands while enjoying a range of experiences at their own pace.

Its sprawling villas and pavilions have been refurbished, as have its signature restaurants, with the spice of Asia in the treetops, the world’s first Nikkei tasting menu presented under water, and the Surf Shack the epitome of laidback chilling, with not only waves breaking right on shore, but post-surf rum, reggae and breathtaking sunsets all part of daily island life.

Niyama offers guests more ways to embrace adventure, from riding the waves at Vodi Point and soaring above the lagoon on a parasail to diving six metres beneath the surface for an immersive underwater glow party.

“Every private island in the Maldives offers beauty and luxury”, says General Manager of Niyama Private Islands Maldives, Hafidh Al Busaidy, “but Niyama goes beyond each and every time with experiences out of this world. Our guests want to escape from the everyday, and our team enable this with thought and imagination behind every detail, and passion in every moment. I thank them, our loyal guests who return again and again, and our voters: we are so honoured to be named among the top resorts in the region”.
