Cora Cora Maldives has announced the appointment of Muizz Mohamed as General Manager, effective 1 October 2026. Muizz has been part of the resort’s journey for six years, with his leadership shaped by a strong focus on integrity and genuine connections with people. He previously held leadership roles at Cora Cora Maldives before taking on his new position.
Muizz joined Cora Cora Maldives during its pre-opening journey as Director of Human Resources, where he championed equal opportunities, diversity, equity and inclusion, while nurturing and creating opportunities for Maldivian talent. He later progressed to Director of Operations and Resort Manager, gaining experience across different facets of the resort along the way. His journey reflects not only his growth as a leader, but also the trust and meaningful relationships he has built with the people around him.
Known for being approachable and empathetic, Muizz believes in being present. He listens, gets involved and takes the time to understand both guests and team members. It is a leadership style that has made him a familiar face around the island and earned him the respect of more than 250 team members. That same approach has been central to his impact as Resort Manager. Muizz placed guest relations and experience at the heart of the operation, using conversations and feedback to understand where the resort could do better and working closely with teams across the island to turn those insights into meaningful improvements.
His influence extends beyond the guest experience. Muizz has taken an active role across resort operations, maintenance, annual improvements and key island projects, while building close relationships with neighbouring communities in Raa Atoll. His ability to move comfortably between people and operations has made him an important part of how Cora Cora Maldives has evolved.
With more than 15 years of hospitality experience alongside 3 years in banking and finance, Muizz began his hospitality career working across several five-star resorts in the Maldives before joining Cora Cora Maldives. He has also completed a course in Hotel Management, Owner Relations and Asset Management at Cornell University.
As one of Cora Cora Maldives’ founding leaders, Muizz has helped shape the culture, character and sense of freedom and integrity that define the resort today. His promotion also reflects the resort’s commitment to nurturing Maldivian talent and creating equal opportunities for local leaders to grow from within. As General Manager, Muizz brings together what has shaped his journey so far: a deep understanding of people, hands-on operational experience and a belief that great hospitality begins with genuine human connection. He now takes that philosophy forward as he leads Cora Cora Maldives into its next chapter.
