Aman has announced Amanolu, its first destination in the Maldives, set within Vaavu Atoll and scheduled to open in 2028. Designed by longtime Aman collaborator KHA, the destination will bring together an intimate 52-key resort and a limited collection of fully serviced Aman Residences, with each residence occupying its own private island.
The name Amanolu combines Aman, the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’, with Olu, inspired by the water lily, a symbol associated with serenity, renewal and a connection to nature. Set amid the white coralline beaches, turquoise lagoons and pristine islands of the Maldivian archipelago, Amanolu is designed to create a close connection between architecture, landscape and the surrounding seascape.
The resort will comprise 52 keys, alongside dedicated islands for wellness and recreation. Across the surrounding waters, Aman Residences, Amanolu will feature five-bedroom private island homes designed around space, privacy and a connection to nature.
Architecture Shaped by the Maldives
KHA’s design responds to the geography of the Maldives through restrained architecture and simple forms. Indoor and outdoor spaces flow into one another, creating a seamless relationship between the residences, surrounding landscape and ocean.
The residences will be oriented to capture the changing light, with individual islands offering sunrise or sunset views and select locations providing uninterrupted outlooks from dawn to dusk.
Each five-bedroom Residence island will feature expansive indoor and outdoor living areas, a 25-metre swimming pool, dedicated staff accommodation and a personal berth. Designed as private retreats, the residences will provide owners with a secluded setting surrounded by the Maldivian seascape.
A Private Island Way of Living
Residence Owners will have access to Amanolu’s dining, wellness and recreational experiences and amenities, including its dedicated wellness and activity island. These offerings will be complemented by Aman’s personalised service and attention to individual preferences.
Scheduled to open in Vaavu Atoll in 2028, Amanolu will introduce Aman’s approach to hospitality to the Maldives while drawing on the natural character of its island setting.
